X is generally working (and has for over a year on this box) I just did not have a second monitor to run on it at the time. > Also try xf86cfg. That blows up with an illegal instruction.... hmm... do not know why. Also, the matrox site does not have precompiled drivers for xfree86 4.0.2 despite the docs specifically stating they do (yes I should upgrade, but will hold out until I do the entire machine in a couple of months). I had some problem compiling the new drivers from source and decided that I would bag it for the moment since I have t omuch work to do though. As a note, I went through all this some time back and upgraded the matrox drivers and was able to get the second monitor working with mgapdesk. I am having some really wierd artifacts on the second monitor which I would guess is butter overruns. which would likely be fixed with the driver upgrade. Either that or I have a bad card which would be a REALLY BIG BUMMER... Thanks for all the help, and I'll report back later. EBo --
