Today, Linux-based variants of the GNU system, based on the Linux kernel initially developed by Linus Torvalds, are in widespread use. RMS was initially contacted by the IEEE Computer Society chapter at NAU to speak in Flagstaff on September 27th at 7 PM. AZOTO, PLUG and ASULUG have acquired some of his time for the Sunday talk as well. See the AZOTO and PLUG websites for further information about Stallman's Phoenix presentation and http://www.cse.nau.edu/~ieeecs/rms-visit.html for more information about his presentation in Flagstaff. AZOTO and the NAU IEEE Computer Society chapter are paying Richard's travel expenses and are trying to raise a small stipend to pay him for his speaking engagements.
