If you also have an internal network, make sure you tell kppp to remove your current gateway. If the dial up tries to verify your gateway against earthlinks it will disconnect you. I'm not sure where to change that, as I haven't used kde in almost a year, but look for it. IIRC, it is something about assinging defualt route to this gateway...
