She said she was calling in regards to the Code Red virus. The conversation went something like this. R: Hi, is this Mr. Brown. Me: Yes, it is!* R: This is calling on behalf of the Qwest corporation. We're=20 calling all our DSL customers regarding the Code Red virus. Have you noticed any problems lately? Me: It's been a little slow but other than that nothing. R: Ok, great, well I'd like to give you a URL that will give you more information about the virus... Me: I don't run IIS. R: Huh? Me: I don't run Microsoft's IIS. R: What? Me: I don't run Microsoft stuff. I only run Linux so I'm not affected. R: Uh, umm, ok. Well, thank you and have a nice day. Me: Wait, do you have any information on Qwest switching to MNS? R: Um, err, no. I'm just calling about the Code Red thing. Me: Ok. I have to commend them for calling all of the customers individually. Seems like they're going that extra mile and putting that personal touch on it. Sad thing is I really didn't feel that she understands the situation. Like she was reading from a script. I wanted to discuss it more with her. Dan * I have caller id with privacy plus and odd thing was that the privacy plus kicked in. If any of you don't know what this does, if the caller has an unknown phone number and id, the caller is prompted to leave a message. The phone then rings on my end twice and I know it's privacy plus. I hear a message along with the message the user leaves and am prompted to accept the call or reject it. So I knew ahead of time what the call was about. I was shocked to hear that it was someone from Qwest calling about CR. --1UWUbFP1cBYEclgG Content-Type: application/pgp-signature Content-Disposition: inline -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE7dWk5PIfIXJRddQ0RAiOAAJ9V9k+5ZLes6Lqg1pLvI7aJFZBcZQCfeoZ1 qBnxm5Meg+8A5UqYX5uwdp8= =8YZk -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --1UWUbFP1cBYEclgG--
