Well, I tried everything that Craige suggested - no luck on either an NT/2k or Win98 box. (I can map shares on the samba server, just can't view the network). As for the firewall: I found out that specifying no firewall does indeed put one in on IPTABLES. I disabled IPTABLES and put in my own IPCHAINS rules that I have always used - firewall on the internet and wide open on the intranet since it is only for my own use.
