I've found a real simple solution (if you've already got mp3s organized into directories) http://edna.sourceforge.net/ I run edna on a server where I store my mp3s. Then using netscape (on any platform) I set up netscape to associate my application of choice (xmms on Linux) to handle m3u files(MIMEtype=audio/x-mpegurl). This is simpler than it sounds. Edna dynamically generates web pages showing your mp3 files and generates the play-lists. It will generate play-lists to play your songs in a psuedo-randow order also.
