Your ip lease should 'renew' every 4 hours, but that doesn't mean it should 'change' every 4 hours. My firewall has had the same IP for 6 months. I think that's partly due to no major outage on qwest's part and the firewall is on a UPS. :))) I have to admit, the speed on this VDSL is awesome... it's actually faster than my T1 circuit at home in both directions. *g* -----Original Message----- From: plug-discuss-admin@lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us [mailto:plug-discuss-admin@lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us]On Behalf Of gnomeboy Sent: Wednesday, March 28, 2001 9:03 AM To: plug-discuss@lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us Subject: Re: Qwest and Linux - info needed i have this running at home, and the problem that i have run into, is the lease from the dhcp server updates every 4 hrs. so your ip could change and there for you would have to change you config, and i havent figured out how to get into the digital gateway box to possibly hardcode an ip :( . i ran a dns server at home for a while but i kept having to update my zone everytime my ip would change. as for terms of service, they state that you may not run a web server or dns server, but i am not sure about the mail server. hope this helps.
