Ok, I'll make this as simple as I can. I wont need to write for a FAQ, the Debian docs are pretty good. Remember to "unwrap" URI/URL lines. For dd I always use the following for Sparc: dd if= of=/dev/fd0 conv=sync Here is what you do. change directory (cd) to: ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/dists/stable/main/disks-sparc/current/images-1.44 use dd or rawrite to put the root.bin image onto a floppy. change directory to: ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/dists/stable/main/disks-sparc/current/sun4cdm/images-1.44 use dd or rawrite to put the rescue.bin image onto a floppy. Please look at the "doc" directory for the following: ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/dists/stable/main/disks-sparc/current/doc/install.en.txt As Seen in the README.txt file: =============================== sun4cdm .... This is used for most non-Ultra systems. This includes SPARCStation 1, 2, ELC, IPC, IPX, 5, 10, 20 as well as SPARC Classics. sun4dm-pci . Same as the above kernel but with PCI support for use with systems that have a PCI bus and/or ps2 mouse and keyboard ** Specific Files of Interest Using the descriptions above, you need to select the directory containing the set of files which is appropriate to the installation you are doing. You will need all of the following `.bin' images, unless marked otherwise. .../rescue.bin Rescue disk image, containing the kernel and a boot loader. .../root.bin Root disk image, containing the root file system. =============================== All you should need is 2 floppies. The rest is a 'net install and goes pretty quick, even over a dialup connection. JLF Sends... --- David Demland wrote: > Jean, > > I have been trying to get this to work.
