---------- Forwarded Message ---------- Subject: LUGs: LPI needs your LUG member experts Date: Fri, 9 Feb 2001 15:14:23 -0600 (CST) From: To: Below you'll find a message from me that I sent to LPI lists in regards to the launch of the Job Analysis Survey for Level 2 of the Linux Professional Institute's certification program. As LPI is a non-profit organization and development of the LPI objectives are Open Source, I wanted to ask that you and your qualifying LUG members assist us with this survey. The details and purpose of the survey falls below. In two weeks we've received nearly 50% of our required participants to help us define the job objectives for Level 2 (Senior) system administrators. It's very important that we get the widest range of possible responses from people who are performing Linux sysadmin tasks in their daily jobs. Our goal to keep our program active on a global level means we need participants from all regions around the world. If you can help us with this survey, I definitely look forward to working with you. In addition to participating at the survey level, we work with the community to define the final objectives and to develop the test items for the exams. If you will, please forward this project request to your LUG members inviting their participation. If you have any questions, please let me know. P.S. For an explanation of *why* we are doing this and how it plays a role in our development process, please visit: http://www.lpi.org/p-development.html ----- Forwarded message from kara@lpi.org ----- Date: Wed, 24 Jan 2001 16:27:41 -0600 (CST) From: To: Subject: It's that time again... Job Analysis Survey The Job Analysis survey is open for business for Level 2 of LPI's certification program! We need intermediate and advanced Linux system administrators to complete these surveys. See http://www.lpi.org/ for a link to the survey, or go straight to http://www.lpi.org/cgi-bin/jass.py. The purpose of this survey is to determine the scope of what should be covered at the intermediate level of Level 2. The complete survey is divided into 19 smaller surveys with 20-25 items each. When reviewing the tasks, you'll find a vast number of topics and task types. Some are pretty vague, with attempts are covering a whole process, while others are fairly tedious to cover specific topics. At the bottom of each survey, you will find a comment box, a new feature added since the Level 1 surveys. Please take advantage of these comment boxes to help us develop the best Level 2 possible! Everyone who completes all 19 mini-surveys will be entered to receive free vouchers for the Level 2 exams when they are released. The last survey, of the 1400 surveys completed, only 10 people completing the 1400 completed all of them! So your odds are very good! Please feel free to talk about the surveys here or to join our lpi-examdev mailing list to discuss details. If you have any questions, let me know! I look forward to working with you! -Kara -- Kara Pritchard Phone: 618-398-7360 Author, RHCE Exam Cram Director of Exam Development http://www.lpi.org/ Site Manager http://www.LinuxUsersGroups.org/ -- Sponsored by Linuxgruven.com ------------------------------------------------------- -- Jim Bliss comes from within, ignorance from without
