I found CD-RW integration flawless in 7.2 when doing a fresh install with the CD-RW already in place (I have a CD-RW and a DVD-ROM drive and they work very well together (now I just have to find Linux software so that I can watch my DVDs on Linux, rather than having to dual-boot back to Win98). I think to make 7.2 recognize the CD-RW for what it is, you need a two-step process. First, in lilo.conf, there needs to be a line in your "normal" kernel section that says (without quotes) " append "hd*=ide-scsi" (with the * representing the IDE drive that your CD-RW is). The second line goes in (I believe) /etc/rc.d (I'm not in the Linux side right now) and it can be the last line of all of that script. That line should read: modprobe ide-scsi If that doesn't work, try doing a reinstall. That, I am sure, will work. Mandrake 7.2 is a GREAT distribution. Happy New Year! I have \_ not been able to gain access to the drive to say the least. Given that you have gone through scsi emulation, you did remember to try and mount the drive as scd0, not hdc, right?
