I always configure my system statically. I have seen special articles on getting DHCP to work with Cox, apparently it is non-standard in some way (?). BTW, that network mask looks odd to me: 24.1.248.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.248.0 U 0 0 0 Most commonly it would be 255.255.255.0, but Cox told me that mine would be 255.255.255.128, and that works fine.
