Nick, I've installed Linux on my Toshiba with only several small issues. It turns out that many people had the same problems and most are easily solved. Here are a couple of places to look for more information[1]. linux-on-portege Message board - http://www.egroups.com/messages/linux-on-portege/ Installing Linux on the Toshiba Portégé 7020 CT - http://agnes.dida.physik.uni- essen.de/~anja/linux/portege7020.html Mark Holbert mark@linuxsoftware.org [1] Though most of the information is about the Portege, the suggestions worked for my Satellite too. ----- Original Message ----- From: Nicholas Draven To: plug-discuss@lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us Sent: Friday, December 22, 2000 12:19 AM Subject: Linux and Toshiba Hello all. I recently was tasked to install Linux on a Toshiba Satellite laptop. So far I have not been able to get Linux installed since the cd-rom does not recognize the Linux boot sector. I have found this to be true also to some degree with the a-drive. When I do get it to boot, there is a problem with the video, just going blank. Has anyone here installed Linux on a Toshiba? Any good hints? Also, if there has been success... which distribution? I have been to slashdot, and freshmeat, and have not seen that much said, nor the Toshiba website. Anyone know of any other good resources? Nick ----- End forwarded message -----
