You should certainly *try* GNOME.  It has improved a lot in the last
year.  Get it at http://www.helixcode.com/.  (The net install is
*very* easy.  Getting updates is easy too.)

I would very much like to see an objective review comparing GNOME
and KDE from one or more of the list members.
