Heh. I was thinking exactly the same thing. Wasn't there an article on /. or salon a few weeks ago about how to secure a $250k salary in the Valley and live like a pauper? Your situation doesn't sound strange, if you know (or appear to know) what you're doing. Employers are desperate for tech people, and even MORE desperate for tech people who know what they're doing. One look at all of the techpimp billboards around town (and pimp job postings on tech-oriented mailing lists) should give you an idea of the situation. FWIW, a pimp will typically pay you ~$20-$50/hour, and bill you out at ~$60-$120/hour. I wonder if any companies in the Valley have adopted the M$-style employee dorms.
