I think I may just avoid hdparm customizing in light of what has happened. I like Linux alot better when it is working! I have a new Western digital Caviar WD153ba 7200rpm. http://www.westerndigital.com/products/drives/wd153ba-c.html. I really don,t know what I am missing with all the hdparm tweaks so it doesn't bother me that much.
