If you can find that modeline and post it to the list, I should be able to make a working modeline for 800x600 from it that will be compatible with your monitor. What is your monitors horizontal & vertical scan bandwidth? The info I am looking for looks something like this (and is in /etc/XF86Config) (yes, a plain S3V card and a Princeton monitor sold as a 1200x1024 max can do a reasonable 1600x1200! 55Hz is a little on the blinky side though.) -- Section "Monitor" Identifier "U75" VendorName "Princeton" ModelName "Ultra 75" HorizSync 30-70 VertRefresh 50-150 # 512x384 @ 85 Hz, 34.38 kHz hsync Modeline "512x384" 22 512 528 592 640 384 385 388 404 -HSync -VSync # 640x400 @ 85 Hz, 37.86 kHz hsync Modeline "640x400" 31.5 640 672 736 832 400 401 404 445 -HSync +VSync # 800x600 @ 104.3 Hz, 65.96 kHz hsync Modeline "800x600" 69.65 800 840 904 1056 600 604 610 632 -HSync -VSync # 1024x768 @ 81.3 Hz, 65 kHz hsync Modeline "1024x768" 85 1024 1032 1152 1308 768 772 775 799 # 1152x864 @ 70 Hz, 62.4 kHz hsync Modeline "1152x864" 92 1152 1156 1316 1474 864 865 875 891 # 1280x960 @ 68.62Hz, 68.08KHz Modeline "1280x960" 116 1280 1308 1492 1704 960 964 968 992 # 1344x1008 @ 64.72Hz, 67.57KHz Modeline "1344x1008" 120 1344 1376 1544 1776 1008 1012 1016 1044 # 1440x1080 59.1Hz, 68KHz hsync Modeline "1440x1080" 132 1440 1484 1652 1912 1080 1084 1088 1114 # 1600x1200 @ 55.1Hz, 68.4kHz hsync Modeline "1600x1200" 143 1600 1642 1772 2048 1200 1201 1205 1234 EndSection -- Section "Screen" Driver "accel" Device "Virge DGX4" Monitor "U75" DefaultColorDepth 16 Subsection "Display" Depth 16 Modes "1440x1080" "1600x1200" "512x384" "640x480" "800x600" "1024x768" "1152x864" "1280x920" "1344x1008" ViewPort 0 0 Virtual 1600 1200 EndSubsection EndSection -- jkenner @ mindspring . com__ I Support Linux: _> _ _ |_ _ _ _| Working Together To <__(_||_)| )| `(_|(_)(_| To Build A Better Future. |
