My wife's Aunt and her husband are long timers at Disneyland. They have both worked there for over 20 years each. Apparently a few years ago (I'm not sure how many) in an effort to bring higher profitibility to the park, they hired a retired General to run the park and the whole tone of the place changed. They brought in the merchandise hawkers and placed them all over the park. Shifts became longer for the entertainers. Regimentation is the rule. If any of you remember going to Disneyland 10 or more years ago, there were NEVER any street vendors. All concessions were sold at clean controlled stores or restaurants. All merchandise was sold at (I think) three stores along the Main Street. Nowadays everywhere you look there is some snack, beverage, or merchandise hawker pushing his wares. It almost has replaced the purpose of the park. They both say that they are not happy with their working conditions, and long for the old days but have a substantial time investment in the company. My college roomate worked for the Mouse, and has a tshirt commerating (sp?) the indenture saying "I spent a summer in Hell at the Happiest Place on Earth". And over the backdrop of Disneyland, Chernebog was rising off of Splash Mountain...and Chernebog had big round Mouse ears. The shirt still makes me laugh just to think about it. David For the youngin's, Chernebog is the Daemon in Fantasia for 'A Night on Bald Mountain', by Korsakov (sp?).
