The reason I said that, is because he doesn't sound like he wants to really
mess around with all of the dependencies.  And if I had just installed a new
OS and I was unable to get things to work, one of the first things I'd try
is to re-install and be more meticulous in my installation choices.  It was
also just a quick fix solution.  You can spend amazing amounts of time
trying to figure out a problem with X-windows, especially if you don't know
linux/unix at all.

why is it that when a package dependency is missing people just say to
reinstall
Redhat (or any other package manager based distro)??  Go to google.com (or
rpmfind.net) and do a search for those specific files, it should tell you
what
packages they are contained in.
