Did you install Xfree86 4 or 3.3.6 =

prompted you? If you're not failure with Xfree86 and/or have a =
semi-obscure=20
video card, you will want to make sure that you go with 3.3.6. Version =
4 is=20
very new and lacks the wide range of video card support and pleasant=20
setup/config utilities.
If that's not the case, it sounds =
like you're=20
missing some libraries or the ld.so.conf isn't setup correctly, broken =
links,=20
or something weird like that.
You might try flipping to an =
alternate screen=20
(alt+function key) and logging in as root and doing a:
find / -name libx11.so.* =
-print
and report back your findings to us =
along with=20
the contents of your /etc/ld.so.conf file (cat /etc/ld.so.conf). Be =
sure to=20
include other information like your video card model, etc. It might =
also be=20
worth checking for errors in your /var/log/messages file (type: less=20
/var/log/messages as the root use.. shift+G will take you to the =
bottom of the=20
file and q willl exit).
One other thing would be to run =
XF86Setup and=20
make sure you have the right card chosen, etc.

I am seeking advice regarding =
