I've had a lot of problems with the RPM database getting corrupted or being invalid (ie. package is uninstalled but the database doesn't think so.) Which is the main reason I dislike rpm, this seems to happen constantly. Also, the groups which software belongs to, there doesn't seem to be a standardized naming convention. Many packages belong to groups which the package maintainer believes would be the right group. These are a few the issues I'd like to see addressed as far as rpm goes. It would seem dpkg is much better for issues like this? I'll have to give it a try. * Blake -----Original Message----- From: Michael F. Here we just use the Compaq Tru64 package system. It does I have read in a couple of magazines that Compaq is going to move to RPM for Tru64.. We will see. In Earthlink (then MindSpring) I wanted to use RPM/SRPM instead of DPKG but I lost the war. I must admit that using DPKG has not been bad and it is way better than nothing.. _______________________________________________ Plug-discuss mailing list - Plug-discuss@lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us http://lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us/mailman/listinfo/plug-discuss
