Please forgive the html (rtf) mail. I am responding from work.
Yes, I did try the --force option with a resulting error message that '
--force is only allowed on install or update', or something like that.

have you tried using the CLI command with the force option? you'll have to
man rpm to get the flag, can't remember it off the top of my head...

Subject: duplicate RPMs installed
I have noticed two errors when installing two new packages. An error
will occur like
'error getting record /bin/sh from file://var/lib/rpm/requiredby.rpm'.
When I try to cancel it, it seems to cancel, but then I get a
duplicate entry, in this case Glide_V3-2.60.15-3mdk.i586.rpm and
Glide_V3-2.60.15-4mdk.i586.rpm are both installed and I haven't been
able to uninstall either of them. When I use the command line to
uninstall the response is that the package is not installed, if I use
kpackage, the message is '"Glide_V3" specifies multiple packages'.
I am using Mandrake v7.1 on a K6II-450, 128M RAM, Voodoo3 2000.
How do I uninstall both packages and start over?
Thanks for any assistance,
Donn
