Please forgive the html (rtf) mail. I am responding from work. Yes, I did try the --force option with a resulting error message that ' --force is only allowed on install or update', or something like that. HTH -----Original Message----- From: Donn Shumway [mailto:donn@linuxfan.com] Sent: Thursday, July 06, 2000 8:54 AM To: plug-discuss@lists.PLUG.phoenix.az.us Subject: duplicate RPMs installed I have noticed two errors when installing two new packages. An error will occur like 'error getting record /bin/sh from file://var/lib/rpm/requiredby.rpm'. When I try to cancel it, it seems to cancel, but then I get a duplicate entry, in this case Glide_V3-2.60.15-3mdk.i586.rpm and Glide_V3-2.60.15-4mdk.i586.rpm are both installed and I haven't been able to uninstall either of them. When I use the command line to uninstall the response is that the package is not installed, if I use kpackage, the message is '"Glide_V3" specifies multiple packages'. I am using Mandrake v7.1 on a K6II-450, 128M RAM, Voodoo3 2000. How do I uninstall both packages and start over? Thanks for any assistance, Donn
