It IS time that the people get involved with their government. Complacency will only lead to more oppressive government. As a perfect example, I cite what the City Council of the City of Tempe has done in the recent past. Immediately after their election/re-election, they chose to ignore the promises that that very same council made to the citizens of Tempe to not use transit tax funds to construct a light rail system. Even when confronted with written documentation of the promise that was made to the people, they pressed on with their plan to spend transit tax money on light rail construction. It IS time for the people to get involved with their own government. UCITA will slip through the legislature with nary a whisper of concern for the citizens if we remain silent on this issue. Maybe it is time to fire up Emacs or to put a petition page up on the web for people to see and to sign. Maybe if we get enough people to sign, we CAN make a difference.
