Fellow Pluggers and printer experts:

I am seeking to buy a Lexmark Optra Network printer.  These printers
are very capable, powerful laser printers.  They run HP PCL5 emulations
as well as Postscript optional.

The  reason for my interest is that the Optra printers have Flash memory
which will hold forms.  The forms can be called from a list and will
print as backgrounds.  I can "typeset" a form into Flash memory,
then call for it to print as I print foreground from our accounting
application.  The "typeset" form in Flash memory can contain logos,
lines, boxes, -- even barcodes and special fonts. Our accounting
application has provision for calling for the backgrounds and
choosing from among the individual forms.  Once working, a variety
of forms can be intermixed on plain paper and the expense of
preprinted forms will go away.

My dilema is this:  How will it work with our Linux print servers?  I
think one of our print servers is Red Hat, although we have other
distributions that we can use, if necessary.  If we have to do it,
we (shameless admission) do have M$ stuff here if we need it to
typeset the form and burn the Flash.
