Don, There are others here more qualified to discuss linux cert's than i am, so i'll leave that to them. I would however recommend that you consider a CCNA (certified cisco network asociate) cert. as then you will have to learn Real TCPIP and not M$'s version, it is definately a more challenging test, and having cisco on the resume definately doesn't hurt. Also keep in mind that you need to upgrade your mcse by 31 Dec.2001 to the windows2000 track or you will no longer be a mcse.
