It doesn't have to be on c:, but it does need 600MB of space as it creates a virtual drive from wherever it is installed to. No programs in windows really need to be installed on c:, they just default to that because they are guaranteed that that partition exists. I just wish M$ had come up with a better partitioning scheme and hadn't allowed developers to mess with core .dll files.
