I haven't seen the Vdsl boxes, but for the Cisco 675 box you don't have to be in bridging mode to have a static IP. It is possible to login to the router and through NAT redirect some of the ports to a box inside or elsewhere for http, ftp, telnet, etc... > ? However, xDSL uses dynamic ips.
