What I really want to know is how do I back up the current modem setup. I can live without the soundcard (but would rather not), but not without the modem. I need a way to reliably restore the current modem settings in case sndconfig screws it up (which the man page indicates is possible). I would like to take an old isapnp.conf file, and run isapnp against it. The problem is that I don't know what isapnp does with the information, and I don't know how to restore the modem config if that doesn't work. Thanks. -- "We've heard that a million monkeys at a million keyboards could produce the Complete Works of Shakespeare; now, thanks to the Internet, we know this is not true." --Robert Wilensky
