I know Dennis Kibbee, and work with AZLoco also.  While Dennis  Kibbee is an Adjunct Teacher with MCC (a position I turned down), along with Hans, the PLUG nor AZLoco would not be involved in your College UG. 

 

I strongly suggest that you move ahead with starting whatever security or Linux UG there.

 

The UG space is fairly competitive for all the various Universities and Colleges.  A strong open source participation usually equates to a challenged and engaged student body; does it not?

 

I would be careful attending the UAT meetings; I have had negative experiences and helped clean out vermin after participation.

UAT is very competitive; sending a team to DefCon every year.  I used to host the Hackfests at UAT.

 

The 2600 Club meetings are not well supported.  

 

I provide a very basic practical 3 hour session every month at DeVry University, where we have a large network and space to store our Virtual Hosting box (with targets for our tagging fun).

 

I would suggest that you participate anywhere (and everywhere you can),

 

Our focus is practical.  We put up targets and everyone attacks them.

 

Prizes are available for those who are first to obtain a flag.  In the last part of the session, we let everyone know how the exploit would have been completed.

 

I hope to see you next Saturday at DeVry University in Phoenix for our Hackfests.
