I hadn't looked but I since figured out how to fix the problem.
I had a grub theme that showed a photo behind the menu. I removed
the photo and the theme then rebooted. Now I've got the standard
grub menu, but it works. You asked if I had checked to see if any
errors were logged. Where would I look?

thanks
have a Dell Optiplex 7010 with 32GB RAM. Recently I installed
Kubuntu
24.04.1 on a Kingston 240GB SSD. Sometimes it gets stuck

disappears then nothing happens. I won't get the login screen

switch it on
I removed the SSD that has Windows on it and the problem still
happens.
A few days ago I reinstalled the SSD that had my previous
Kubuntu 22.04
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this and what

some bug
that doesn't show itself if I booted using UEFI?
Thanks
