<p>Thanks for including that link to the theme collection. I found
one that had the login form on the left and didn't have an
avatar. It blurred the third of the background image that was
behind the login form. Thankfully the person who wrote it
included comments in theme.conf that explained how to eliminate
the blur effect.</p>

figured out how to set the background image I wanted for SDDM.
The <br>
only problem is this big circle right in the middle for the
user's <br>
avatar. I got rid of the default avatar by creating a
transparent image <br>
and setting that as the avatar. That only leaves a gray
circle right in <br>
the middle of the screen.<br>
