I would be particularly interested in a talk where someone could point out the merits of the various other similar file systems such as gluster and ceph.
Doing a live presentation probably won't be an option because of the time difference, since our presentation wouldn't start till 10PM for them and their presentaion would show at 4PM for us.

We'd certainly be interested in showing any particularly good videos, especially if the original presenter could be made available to answer any questions after the video.

Our videos, of course, are available (eventually) on my page.

(Yeah, yeah, I know I'm a little behind on getting the videos out)
I thought some people might be interested in this.
Maybe we could get a collaboration between PLUG and GatorLUG where you
record each others meetings and either show it to the other group or do
a live presentation (expounded upon) of the other groups presentation.
What do you think of that?

Come join us for May's Gator Linux Users Group meeting at Mobiquity in
Gainesville, FL at 6pm on Wednesday evening.

The main topic for the night will be the Moose File System presented by
Clinton Collins. The Physics department at UF has been using this file
system for several years now in production. Clint will discuss how it
works and some of the advantages and disadvantages.

MooseFS is a fault tolerant, network distributed file system. It spreads
data over several physical servers which are visible to the user as one
resource. For standard file operations MooseFS acts as other Unix-alike
file systems:

A hierarchical structure (directory tree)
Stores POSIX file attributes (permissions, last access and modification
times)
Supports special files (block and character devices, pipes and sockets)
Symbolic links (file names pointing to target files, not necessarily on
MooseFS) and hard links (different names of files which refer to the
same data on MooseFS)
Access to the file system can be limited based on IP address and/or password

Distinctive features of MooseFS are:

High reliability (several copies of the data can be stored across
separate computers)
Capacity is dynamically expandable by attaching new computers/disks
Deleted files are retained for a configurable period of time (a file
system level "trash bin")
Coherent snapshots of files, even while the file is being written/accessed
