They can get very expensive, especially with the length you are
talkng about, by the time you are done, it might be just as cheap
for him to buy his own printer.

Is there a reason he can't also connect onto the printer via
wireless?

That is

I have an empty phone line (cat 3) there already could I use

1 - maybe, depends upon the printer.
<br>
<br>
2 - do you mean a computer into the printer, not a printer?
Then it
<br>
is possible to make a cat5 cable into a USB cable, but you
have to
<br>
change the connectors on the end to be USB - probably not
worth the
<br>
effort. If the printer has cat5 (what, RJ45?) jacks then
just
<br>
connect it to your network, again assuming the printer can
do both.
<br>
(Mine can - probably can do all 3 but I have wireless
turned off
<br>
on it so use usb and network)
<br>
<br>
I've taken the liberty of adding 1 and 2 below.

Subject: usb cord
<br>
<br>
(1) I now run my printer wirelessly. can I also hard wire a
computer
<br>
into the
<br>
printer? I think so but I want to make sure.
<br>
<br>
(2) If you can hard wire a printer (I think you mean
computer, as I
<br>
said above)
<br>
into the printer as well can cat5 be used to make a usb
cord?
