Rusty, thanks for the idea.

I am 100% certain Ubuntu 18.04 will work on my System 76 Gazelle laptop.

I don't think that I can take one of my internal SSDs out of the raid array
and read it over USB, but I may be wrong.

I think my safest course of action is to backup my internal drive, and then
clean install 18.04. If the the price of 2TB SSDs come down, then I will
replace the two internal drives.
