Mint update failure ...

Failed apt updates are usually from some dependency check.  These aren't
always easy, have caused me to change distributions for less, but usually
require some regressive cleanup.  See what didn't install prior in the
process, and otherwise try to install the package manually to see why it's
failing.  It's generally a bug, but can be varying degrees of problematic.

There is probably more to the logs than you pasted here for prior failures.
