What is the best printer for the price?

Look for printers with at least all the features you want.  Then look at
the yield you get per cartridge and divide that by the cartridges price
and eliminate the most expensive yields.  Keep in mind that the more
expensive cartridges can be the cheapest ones if the yield is high.
Then check the printers that are left and see if their cartridges
require chips and if so has it been reverse engineered.  You want to
make sure that 3rd party cartridges are available.  If there aren't any,
the printer manufacturer can decide when your printer is obsolete, so
eliminate those too.  Lean towards cartridges that aren't chipped at
all; you don't want the manufacturer to sue the 3rd party guys and make
your future supply go away... not to mention shame on them for chipping
the carts in the first place.
Lastly check to make sure that there aren't any weird hoops you need to
jump through to make it work on Linux.

Once you've gone through all that, pick the best one left... or the
prettiest one... whatever tickles your fancy.
