USB 3 compatible cards

What is the 20-pin connector supposed to be doing here?  Providing 
additional power, or additional USB ports?  The closest thing that I 
found with a quick search is

, where the connector makes the ports able to deliver more current.

All USB3 chipsets should be supported out of the box on recent distros, 
so that shouldn't be a problem.
