rsync problem

Well it is formatted for Windows vfat but it is mounted RW so there was
probably an error that caused it to remount read only.  I'd backup any data
you need off that drive and run
sudo umount /dev/sdd1
sudo fsck.vfat -a /dev/sdd1
to check and repair filesystem errors.
