Invalid argument (22) and rsync

the filesystem is probably FAT because it is a thumb drive.... burned the
brain cells remembering what the partition manager is called....
gparted says the file system is fat32. You are so right about it not liking
the file names. I think it doesn't like the extension that rsync is adding
but why is it addding it?
