Hi Mike,

Unfortunately, that sky is pretty blown-out. I don't think anything can 
be recovered. There's more than one solution here, what I would do is:

Ideally, go re-shoot the photo using a circular polarizer. If that's not 
an option, try the Graduated Density filter in darktable. There's a 
moveable line that appears across the image, move that up to say, just 
above the peak of the house. Now change the hue to a blueish color and 
up the saturation a bit. Notice how it improves the trees too. You could 
also try a drawn mask to limit the effect strictly to the sky, I think 
it improves things quite a bit just be setting the bar at the right place.

Now if you really want to get fancy, you could switch over to Gimp, 
import a scene with a really nice sky as a layer and replace your sky. 
But if you want to keep the trees it might take some work.

To get a multiple instance of a modules, notice there are four icons 
top-left of each module. That fourth one is multiple instances actions 
where you can add new, duplicate, move up or down.
