Ethernet cable is not the correct kind of cable for USB, but even if it 
were the correct kind of cable you can only go a maximum of 16 ft 5 in ( 
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Serial_Bus )

To go further with USB, you need a cable that has inline active 
repeaters like this one:

You should use ethernet cable to connect your friend's computer to your 
network and then via the network he can print to your printer.

You just have to make sure that you plug his network connection into the 
access point itself, so that it can get to the same network as the rest 
of the computers that are connected to the printer.  If you plug it into 
the network behind your access point, then you won't be able to connect 
to the printer at all since it will not be on a different network and it 
will be very difficult to swim upstream to make the connection.
