xbmc x server woes. (was: Re: format thumb drive)

X -configure told me to run X -config <path>/xorg.conf.new which kind of
got X working. X  was a screen of (best I can describe) gray weaves.. Then,
after about 10 seconds it started to flash again on 10 second intervals
with one second of nothing.
