Percona

Sorry for the late reply
Well... To be quite frank it does not provide any features we need and
is not worth the risk (real, perceived, or as dictated by a legal and
accounting department with or without expensive technical research and
trials). We support many thousands of servers (large, physical
servers) and millions of databases. Switching engines is not something
to take lightly. If we used fusion IO (oh how nice that would be) then
perhaps. But even then the percona patched innodb is very close in
performance. Remember, percona has a lot of features in there innodb
that are not stock, fast and effective compression, asynchronous
drops, better purge performance, etc, etc, etc. We just don't need to
worry about the xtra layer. Which, depending on use case, can hinder
performance by spinning additional cpu cycles without increasing
throughput.

So I guess I have to ask. Why do you use xtradb? What is in xtra that
compels you to use it? Also which innodb engine were you using before
you switched?
