paper karma, ixquick

As it relates to adding some anonymity to internet use and home paper 
receipt ; does anyone have any thoughts on these two things?
Paper karma is an app that one can take a photo of junk email sent to 
one and 'they' will take you off the list that got it to you. Why are 
they doing this, how can it be free? I wonder about these things.

ixquick is a browser that encrypts your ip address 
etc..https://startpage.com/eng/aboutstartpage/ it can still use google 
as a search engine if you use the add on 'startpage'.
