You are absolutely correct.  But I trust the icons anyway.  I do this
because a basic computer user, just coming to Linux would not go look
at mtab or whatever.  They would trust the icons.  If I cannot
successfully use a distro in a way my non-geek friends and family
would, I cannot recommend that they use it.

So I have to test it. And report any problems back to the distro.
