Remember this?

"PLUG is a very informal group of people in the Phoenix, Arizona, USA
area who get together several times a month. We talk about the state of
Linux, what we've recently done with Linux, share problems and create
solutions. No knowledge of Linux is presumed or required, although most
members are running Linux in some application.

PLUG membership is no cost and open to anyone. We also welcome users and
fans of all Free Software and Open Source Software such as GNU and BSD."

There are people subscribed to this list who lurk. We lurk for various
reasons. I lurk because I'm fairly new to GNU/Linux and am interested to
see how people are using it, and to have a good resource if I have any
questions, or feel I can help or participate in the larger community.

But threads like this have the effect of discouraging people to
participate.

I understand the urge to write your opinion when someone baits the list,
but this is a list for Linux discussion, and you need to have a bit
more self-control to not take that bait. If it's that important to you
to debate, email that person privately.

Perhaps you don't care about some stranger's opinion. Perhaps you think
I'm a crank. That's fine.
What I am is a new Linux user who was interested in local Gnu/Linux
OSS/Free happenings and got turned off to what could be a great group in
a major city because some folks on this list can not be respectful to
the list as a whole.

Next time an OT flame starts, please look past your nose and try to see
the larger picture.
