OT: cell coverage

apparently alltel is getting purchases by verizon :(.

They're the only companies that mostly have full state-wide coverage.

Any experiences on using other services in the boonies?

The maps for t-mobile and at$t show about 50% of the state having no
coverage.

Hmm, looks like Cricket actually has statewide coverage. Does Cricket
still have no data plans?

Any other providers have full state coverage?

How long until OpenMoko and Android are available? What providers will
they work with?

It looks like Helio gets about 1/3 of the state and then most of the rest
of it via roaming. Is Helio part of sprint? Oi does Helio need to hook
into google maps!

I didn't even realize sprint still exists. The sprint maps are close to
Helio's, so I'll presume they're the same sucky highways only coverage
sprint has always provided.
