DOOM engine for modern Linux systems?

Just wanted to throw out there that I found a website that talks about
the necessities to run Doom under Linux.
http://www.rocket99.com/linux/doom.html
http://linux.softpedia.com/progDownload/DooM-Legacy-Download-604.html
(this one uses opengl)
http://www.doomworld.com/ports/linux_unix.shtml (something that has a
few doom varieties)

Hope this helps a little. I have gotten doom running sometime in the
last 2-3 years and it was on Gentoo. It did take a bit of work to get
things in that were needed, but it was worth it.

The problem with the things from idsoftware currently is that the
binary is from 1994, with a file type of " Linux/i386 demand-paged
executable (ZMAGIC)". Not terribly good on the usual ELF binary
system.

Thanks,
Dan Lund
