Bad Guy: No sir we did not!

Investigator: Okay I believe you.

Investigator to supervisor:  No one will admit it.... I think they are telling the truth... why would they lie?

If they wanted to cut themselves off, wouldn't it be easier to just

What dark cable are you referring to? I believe the only "backup" cables 
are also-live, lower-bandwidth ones. Looks like thusfar nobody has
