How do I check for what chip set is on the motherboard?

I've seen this error before. Many many many many (add a lot of
"many"s) times. Shortly after each episode, I would lose sense of my
PCI SATA card (SiL chipset) which would then crush my RAID. (loosing
two drives simultaneously is not a happy time, even for RAID6!)

I've spoken to Neil Brown about it (maintainer of mdadm) and he is of
the same mind as many others: something with the SATA drivers and the
particular chipset.

What is the chipset of the controller connected to this drive?
