I just upgraded my workstation yesterday. I copied my
entire home directory from the old system to a file
server. After the installation, I restored it.
Worked fine.

Neat trick:
I copied everything in .mozilla and .thunderbird from
the backup and everything was still there - including
the sites I had recently visited.

I did have to adjust Thunderbird and tell is where
MPlayer was - I guess it moved or something.
